Mention Taoism (Daoism) in a conversation and you'll get a lot ooh's and aah's and also a fair bit of confusion. But despite its reputation for being mysterious, Taoism is, at its core, a simple philosophy about letting things take their natural course. Most of what we know about Taoism comes from the Tao Te Ching (Dao De Jing), a classic Taoist (Daoist) text as contradictory and irreverent as it is insightful and funny. This poetic translation of the Tao Te Ching is both rhythmic in meter and faithful to the meaning of the original text. Full of wisdom about human nature, society, war, and politics, it is as relevant today as when it was written thousands of years ago.
