The Nameless Chicken from Judea

The Nameless Chicken from Judea teaches children and adults alike about the life of a chicken raised in a fresh-air coop on the countryside of the biblical land of Judea, southeast of Jerusalem. In cheerful rhymes, the book provides accurate descriptions of the hatching period, the care and instinct of the mother hen to protect her chicks, as well as the pecking order and the challenging life in the chicken coop. In addition to teaching about the wonders of G-d's Creations, the book is highly educational by highlighting the difference between humans and animals, between those who have the free choice to be helpful and kind to smaller children and those who survive by hurting the weak. The book includes an assortment of original photos from the author's own chicken flock, which she raises with much love. Rebbetzin Chana Bracha Siegelbaum, a native of Denmark, is founder and director of Midreshet B'erot Bat Ayin: Holistic Torah for Women on the Land. In 2010 she published her first book, Women at the Crossroads: A Woman's Perspective on the Weekly Torah Portion. Her second book Ruth: Gleaning the Fallen Sparks was published in 2012, and her third book The Seven Fruits of the Land of Israel with their Mystical & Medicinal Properties was published by Menorah Books in 2014. The Nameless Chicken from Judea is her first children's book.
