Forget Yourself

The paths that lead to happiness are many and diverse nowadays. This book is one more attempt to help. The intention is to invite the reader to the prophetic writings of a certain man, who lived two centuries ago in the Middle East. The first part of the book is based on the author's personal ideas. It is only an experiment, though wholly inadequate, meant to be followed by the quotations of a divinely revealed text. The reader is free to agree or disagree with the author on this first part. But the second part of the book is meant to acquaint the reader with the essentials of three major religions, namely of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and to explain the symbolic meaning of certain passages of those religious books, which the religious leaders of the past and of today have sorely misapprehended. The present book shows that leaders of religion have caused the masses of people to turn away from religion, insofar as men's belief in God has almost died out in every land. Maybe the reader will seize the chance and read the book entirely, discover the secrets of the symbolic utterances of former prophets like Moses, Jesus Christ and Muhammad, and perceive that beyond these three religions, all the other major religions of the world, such as Buddhism or Hinduism, are but different chapters of one and the same faith too. The author cherishes the hope that everyone who reads this book will discover the purpose of life, become informed of newly revealed verses, and attain to abiding joy and freedom. The call of the divine beloved is this: "I am the Sun of Wisdom and the Ocean of Knowledge. I cheer the faint and revive the dead. I am the guiding Light that illumineth the way. I am the royal Falcon on the arm of the Almighty. I unfold the drooping wings of every broken bird and start it on its flight." May this book rejoice you, and whosoever mounts into the heaven of knowledge, and whose heart has been revived by the breezes of certitude.
