On a serene fall day on a tranquil New England College campus, the academic world is suddenly and forever changed as explosions rock the campus, demolishing many of the classic buildings. A lone gunman sits atop the Bell Tower. He is in control. The shooting rampage that follows terrifies the local community. Police frantically strain to subdue the lone killer, but first must identify who is perpetrating the massacre. The secret they will uncover will stun the entire town. Students trapped in the buildings fight for survival. And a single woman finds herself a captive, ensnared with the killer and living a paradox, torn between fear and adoration. As precious time ticks away, the police might find a way to end the carnage before this placid town is turned into a war zone.
