The whole expedition tested everyone's endurance, pushing themselves to the limited their physical and mental capabilities.The goal of the expedition was to find new terrain and habitats of Antarctica and to be the first to reach the South Pole. However, they were unable to do so do to bad weather, lack of supplies and physical deterioration. Their final bad luck came in the knowledge that Roald Amundsen reached the South Pole before them.
