Reading and analytics
Reading status and progress
A book can be marked as planned, currently reading, finished, on hold, or library-only. Progress can be updated from the book detail page and is separate from the book’s bibliographic metadata.
Reading logs
Use the reading log on a book to record a session, pages read, time spent, dates, and notes. The book detail page also shows recent log entries and links to the full reading-log view.
For a larger update, use the reading-history import. The importer can match rows to books and create reading-log entries in bulk.
Dates, ratings, and notes
Reading dates, personal ratings, reviews, and notes belong to the user. Imports from Goodreads and StoryGraph can populate these fields when the source columns are mapped correctly. Check dates after importing because source exports may use different formats or omit dates entirely.
Streaks and statistics
The statistics area provides reading totals, completed books, pace and category views, reading patterns, and library-journey visualizations. Streaks are based on reading activity and can be adjusted with the reading-streak offset setting when your history needs a correction.
Monthly wrap-ups
Monthly wrap-up images collect finished books for a selected month. If a book is missing from a wrap-up, first check its finish date and reading status, then verify that the date is in the intended timezone.
Privacy
Privacy controls are available from Settings → Privacy:
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Share what I’m currently reading | Allows current-reading books to appear in community and public-library status views. |
| Share my reading activity and statistics | Allows reading activity, completed-book status, logs, and reading statistics to appear in community views. |
| Make my library visible to others | Opts the user’s book collection into the public-library view. It is off by default. |
These permissions are independent. A user must enable library sharing before their books can appear publicly, and current-reading details require both library sharing and the two relevant reading-sharing settings. Private notes, ratings, reviews, and other personal metadata are not included in public book cards.
After changing a setting, click Save Privacy, reload the panel, and confirm the switch remains in the selected state. Test public views with a non-admin account before sharing a link.
