Build your library

Organize your TBR and choose what to read next

Turn Plan to read and Up next into a focused, private reading queue with lists, priorities, filters, and a pick for what to read next.

What belongs in My TBR

My TBR includes only books on your Plan to read and Up next shelves. Plan to read is your wider queue; Up next is the smaller group you are most likely to choose from soon.

Finished, Reading, and DNF books do not appear in My TBR. If you later move a Finished or DNF book back to Plan to read or Up next, its saved TBR details return with it.

Open the workspace

  1. Open My library.
  2. Choose My TBR near the library actions.
  3. Use the summary cards to jump to Plan to read, Up next, high-priority, or long-waiting books.

Good to know: You can still use the regular library page whenever you want to browse every status. My TBR is a focused view of unread books, not a replacement for your library.

Add context to a book

  1. Open Edit TBR details on a book in My TBR, or add the same details while adding an unread book or editing its book page.
  2. Choose High, Normal, or Low priority.
  3. Optionally add one or more moods: Cozy, Hopeful, Dark, Thoughtful, Funny, Adventurous, or Intense.
  4. Write a short answer to Why did I add this? when you want to remember the recommendation, review, mood, or person that put it on your list.
  5. Save TBR details.

Keep in mind: The reason note, priority, moods, lists, and manual order are private to your account. They do not appear on a public page or in recommendation requests.

Use lists without duplicating books

  1. Choose New list in the Lists rail and give the list a clear name, such as Winter reading or Books from friends.
  2. Open Edit TBR details for a book and check one or more lists to add it to them.
  3. Use the three-dot control beside a list to rename or delete it.

Good to know: A list is a private grouping, not a separate shelf. A book can belong to several lists, and deleting a list only removes those groupings—it never removes the book or its reading history.

Filter and sort a large queue

Filters work together. For example, choose Up next, Thoughtful, Audiobook, and a specific author to see books that meet every selected condition.

Genre comes from saved catalog metadata on books already in your library. Mood is always a tag you chose yourself. Filtering never sends your library data to ISBNdb or another catalog service.

  1. Choose filters for shelf, custom list, genre, length, mood, format, or author.
  2. Choose Apply, then sort the matching books by manual order, priority, recently added, oldest added, title, or length.
  3. Choose Clear to start over while keeping an open custom-list view when applicable.

Keep in mind: Length uses the reading format when it is known: Short is up to 250 pages or 8 hours, Medium is 251–450 pages or 8–16 hours, and Long is over 450 pages or 16 hours. Books without the matching page count or duration appear under Unknown.

Arrange the reading queue

Manual order is one shared queue for all of your unread books. Custom lists and filters show views of that queue; they do not create a separate order.

  1. Set Sort to Manual order.
  2. On a desktop, drag a book by its handle to swap its place with another book.
  3. On any device, use Move up or Move down on a book card. These controls are also available for keyboard and touch use.

Let My TBR choose

  1. Set any filters you want My TBR to respect.
  2. Choose Pick my next book.
  3. Review the selected book, its cover, and your private reason note when one exists.
  4. Open the book, move it to Up next, or choose Pick my next book again to reshuffle.

Good to know: If no book is picked, widen the filters or add a book to Plan to read or Up next first.

Return to books waiting quietly

Waiting for you highlights a few unread books that have been waiting at least 30 days. Books marked Up next and books by authors you have rated highly can be surfaced first.

You will see the fuller selection in My TBR and a compact reminder on the dashboard when there is something worth revisiting.
